Teaching Awards

Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship

The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in instruction. There will be up to a maximum of five Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship awards made each year. Awardees will receive (1) a $1,000 discretionary fund for one year, (2) a plaque to be awarded at a suitable ceremony, and (3) a permanent salary increase of $6,000 beyond the raise provided through the normal allocation process at the college and departmental levels. Funds for these awards will come from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Richard B. Russell Undergraduate Teaching Awards

The Richard B. Russell Foundation has established the Richard B. Russell Undergraduate Teaching Awards at The University of Georgia. The awards are named to honor Georgian and university alumnus Richard B. Russell who had a love for new knowledge and appreciation of our nation's youth.
